FAQs

What sort of running Club are you?

We are a fairly new club that caters for occasional joggers and those wishing to compete in races.

How much is it to join?

It's free! Although a number of our members do buy club running shirts. No need to book - just turn up and run.

Is there anywhere to store my stuff whilst we run?

Following our move to The SouthBank Centre we're currently looking in to this. In the meantime it might be best to turn up ready to run.

How fast do you run? I'm new to running and am worried I'll get left behind.

We want to cater for all, and so have several mini running groups based on pace. From our "social fun group" that does runs around the harbourside at an easy going pace up to our faster sub 8 min/mile group, we aim to have a number of groups that mean everyone can run at their prefered pace. Details of the various mini groups will be on the website soon.

We would say that it's important that you can run at your natural pace for 20 minutes without stopping - irrespective of which paced group you join, it's no fun if you find yourself having to stop down the road after a minute of running.

How far do you run?

Anything between 2.5 miles to 9 miles on a Tuesday or Thursday night.

Which group should I go in?

This is really up to you and members often change groups depending how they feel.

What is the best night for complete beginners and those returning to running?

Currently we're up to around 50 mixed ability runners on a Tuesday night and around 15 runners on a Thursday. The social fun group takes place on a Tuesday.

Where do you run?

All over Bristol. Winter running tends to be road running but summers and weekends are often spent in Ashton Court and Leigh Woods.

Does everyone run races?

No a significant number are social joggers however a number do enter races.

What running gear do I need?

A decent pair of running shoes should be considered if you are interested in running on a regular basis. Reflective tops are a useful addition in winter.

Are there any social events?

We organise various socials, and a number of us finish our Tuesday runs at the SouthBank centre for post-run drinks and free snacks (provided by the SouthBank management). Last year we also had our first Xmas get together. Please consider joining our email list if you wish to be kept up to date with all events, however the main information is usually listed on this website.
