Hard start with a big hill but both T & S enjoyed the view at the top of the Severn bridges in the distance. Later we even passed a 5 km race going in the opposite direction. We 3 acted like a mobile crowd cheering the 40 or so runners on. Tom even new the back marker marshall. The run ended in rain but the drinks in the pub after pub were well earned. T & S's view of the run.... they both want to do it again.

Chris

Hi All,

I would like to do a Sunday run ( at last you cry) of along the Cotswold Way, the Wootton under edge to Old Sodbury section. It's about 12 miles long. A mix of fields, roads, tracks through woods with some very steep hills to necgotiate up and down. I would like to meet at 9.30 am at Old Sodbury, just opposite the pub The Old Dog Inn along Cotswold Lane. From there we fill the cars up we need, leaving the rest parked up in a rather nice viollage so they should be safe, and head for Wootton Under Edge. Park on the B4058, opposite Valley Rd. The run takes us down Valley Rd, on to the Cotswold Trail, which is clearly marked.

Old Sodbury

http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?hl=en&source=hp&q=old+sodbury+pub&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=N&tab=wl

Wootton -U-E http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?hl=en&source=hp&q=old+sodbury+pub&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=N&tab=wl

The run will take about 2 hours, aiming for an average pace of about 9 minutes mile pace with fast bits run at around 7 minutes mile pace ( allows for the odd stop and admire the view). Probably best to take water and perhaps a mars bar to keep you going. We'll run this as a group so no one is to get left behind.

On returning to Old Sodbury, we drive back to Wootton, pick up the other cars and head for the The Royal Oak - on B4058 on the way back to Bristol - in the town for a well deserved drink. I think they serve food too.

I'd like to point out that I'm only going to run this if the weather is ok. If it's pouring with rain or very foggy, then this run isn't worth doing and would be no fun...and yes, I know I'm a big wooss. Can you please let me know if you're up for it. I will keep an eye out for the weather forecast and will confirm we have a go on Friday/Sat early pm. We will need at least two cars too!!!!

Regards

Chris

Here's the tracked run

10.5 miles, 8 min/mile. Up the portway, and back into a headwind. Fair number of other runners out, including several SRC members :) Rob managing to attract the attention of Dave S who was running across the other side of the river on the towpath with a bellowing "DAAAAVE!!" - obviously refined from years of football chanting! Nearly took my left ear out of action...

Overall not the most exciting route, but good to familiarise yourself with the path taken on the Bristol Half.

Hi guys, i see Rob is doing a run on sun morning just after 9, i'd love to join him but have already arranged to run with a mate from outside the club @ 10 am from Aldi stores in Bedminster, along the tow path, its really pretty quiet on a sun morning, just a few other runners, running down to pill, return along the same route taking in a run around the harbour or such like, aimimg to do 11 miles, as i did last sun, will be a nice easy pace, and i promise easy :) So if Rob's run at 9 is a tad too early, why not join me at 10.

--- Dave.S(guest)

Hi guys, for anyone interested, im running from aldi on north st, 10 miles, 9 min pace, maybe portway or towpath with a run round the docks at the end, if you do come along, be nice to se ya in ya club colours. Oh by the way, not sure if you know, but i;ve sold my gps watch, as i want to upgrade, but i tend to look for a bargain lol, so if anyone has a gps watch i could lend for the sunday, that would be great, i wont break it i promise : ) not being fussy but a Garmin 205 or 305 would be ideal as these are the ones im looking to upgrade to. Just to remind those of you doin the Bristol half, there is only 3 sundays left to run, and you need those miles in your legs...... so lets go for it :-)

p.s if you do have a gps watch i could lend, and you've read this but not goin on sun, im more than happy to come and pick it up from you, and return at the end of the run... txt or call me 07971 003514

Cheers
